All because of Ginger
By Miranda S.

“Help me!!!” screamed Alana. Then I bulleted down the slippery wooden stairs and screamed very traumatized. Then suddenly I heard a yelp for Ginger, their dog. Then almost simultaneously I heard a cry from Alana it was “Ginger, No!”
It was a hot summer day when I decided to go over and hang out with my friend Alana and their golden retriever Ginger.
“Go!” Alana said aloud. Me and their dog Ginger were racing across the yard and sometimes she would win and sometimes I would win, until one time she stopped and started to growling at the something that looked like a wavy stick Alana crept over to Ginger she stood right behind Ginger.
Then she stuttered “H-Hey melody?” “Umm there is a baby rattle snake in front of me what do I do!?!”
“You need to back away slowly,” I replied. Then the rattlesnake made a bad mistake, and started to go toward Alana. But Ginger wasn’t about to let that happen. So Ginger took a big risk and dove in front of the rattlesnake then all we heard was a painful yelp from Ginger.
Then in the car we were in devastation. We were headed to the vet we were so worried about Ginger. She was lying down in my lap and her eyes were shut her front paw was swollen she was whimpering the whole ride. We rushed to the vet as fast as the speed of sound.
Finally we were at the vet and the vet was with Ginger. We waited for two hours and the vet came out and said “There is a 50/50 chance of poor Ginger living.” After that we were all so worried. Then we became bored and I felt as if I were trapped in a deep dark abyss with Ginger and I with absolutely no way out. Then me and Alana decided to play I spy and tick tack toe and a bunch of other little things. Then it started to sprinkle. So then we went out and sat in the drizzling rain. When we came back inside we fell asleep on the stone floor.
Then the vet came out and said “Now we are 75% sure that she will not make it, so now you can go say your goodbyes.” Alana burst out in tears and she said “Melody, I miss Ginger,” Then it was time to go home we were all in the car dead silent. We looked all around for ginger she was no were to be found. Then out of the blue we heard a bark it was Ginger. Alana squealed with joy. Now we all know that is was all because of Ginger that Alana is safe.
